Anyway I prefer board games that don’t actually have pieces that also involve cows, catapults, and copious explosions.

As far as I can tell they seem like good choices that work and make sense. And there are so many of them that it is a very wide-range nostalgia bombardment.

I’m not giant megaman expert though so maybe i’m missing some problems.

Hey Shagg, how're things? What do you think of the new things for Pokemon X and Y, such as Pokemon-amie, Fairy Type and so on?

Things are pretty okay! As for Pokemon, the Fairy type seems like it could be a really good idea and mix things up a lot. It has a bunch of strengths and weaknesses that support the weaker types and counter the stronger ones.

Pokemon-amie worries me a little. There’s a possibility that I’ll ave to polish my pikachu’s forehead to maximize his battle capabilities and that could just get silly. Also, there are certain pokemon that you shouldn’t be allowed to touch anywhere… not that the internet hasn’t already ruined that forever.

AHEM anyway on the plus side, hopefully pokemon-amie + wailord = giant whale smile filling up both screens.

Things that bother me or that I don't understand that I have seen in fan-made Mario or Mario-esque games

Maybe someone can help me understand why mario fangame communities do things like these

In no real order:

1) Dark and serious storylines (e.g. mario and luigi fight to the death, bowser causes an apocalypse)

2) Very long levels (Where a single mistake means playing a large portion of the level over again)

3) Checkpoints that are too early or too late (or missing completely) in levels

4) Secrets, especially secret exits or secret stars, that are not hinted at in any way

5) Remakes of world 1-1 from the original Super Mario Brothers without any significant differences

6) Having to carry multiple items around the level, usually backtracking through the level with them

7) Ghost houses (Yeah they’re supposed to be mean but still, sometimes they end up similar to #4 where the solution is hard to understand)

8) Difficult or long boss battles, mostly if the checkpoint is not right before them

9) Lack of focus in a single level’s design, meaning multiple themes or ideas that could have been a single level by themselves and/or don’t make sense together

10) The story interrupting the gameplay

11) Sharp difficulty spikes

12) Gimmicks that mess with the controls

13) Secret exits / stars at the end of the level, forcing the player to play the level twice

Shagg, what are your opinions on the new SSB4 characters revealed so far (Megaman, Villager and Wii Fit U Trainer)? (There, now you have an ask about it)

Megaman looks super fun to play as, and they got all of the nostalgia right with his animations and weapons and sounds and music and stage and so on. I mean, I didn’t grow up with megaman and only played it later but it’s still really awesome. I got another ask about what I thought of the robot master weapons he’s getting in SSB4 and they’re cool so hey, that guy’s question is also answered.

The Villager and the Wii Fit Trainer both had great introduction scenes. I think Villager or some other Animal Crossing guy pretty much needed to be in (hopefully KK Slider is an unlockable character though, he’s cooler) and he looks interesting but maybe a little unwieldy? Could be hard to play as, but definitely goofy and fun.

I actually really like how the wii fit trainer looks too. It looks like she has a lot of crazy acrobatics and I love her color wave final smash. Aaaaaaa all the SSB4 trailers were great!

Lunar Magic. I think that’s the only program for level editing, but there are a bunch of miscellaneous programs for editing other parts of the game. It gets kind of complicated!
